Sprinter Ready For Second All-Weather Win
Quick Returner Set To Capitalise on Conditions
Somerset trainer Malcolm Saunders sends SECRETFACT to South West London this afternoon for his 36th race and the gelding has a real chance of getting his head in front at the post. He competed at Wolverhampton last Wednesday and on the face of it ran a decent race to be fifth to Helvetian, beaten just a couple of lengths. The bare result hides the fact that although he is a hold-up horse, he broke very slowly in that race and was on the inside rail and about nine lengths down for the first three and a half furlongs of the event. Brought wider 300 yards out, he stayed on well without being put under undue pressure and was running on and gaining all the way through the last furlong without quite threatening to win. He goes off the same mark of 77 today and regular partner Jimmy Quinn replaces Rob Hornby.Secretfact has won on the all-weather at Wolverhampton (off 75) and this is his Kempton debut, but the progeny of his sire Sakhee’s Secret are around the 10% mark at the course, encouraging without being spectacular. More in his favour is his trainer’s winning record here which is nearly one in five, whilst he is a very encouraging 22% there when putting Quinn up. Saunders also had a winner just last Tuesday, so is in form. MANSHOOD is being backed and is slowly coming down the weights since getting his head in front at Wetherby in May. He has managed a win off 3lb higher but that was over two years ago and his best performance on an artificial surface was off a mark of 72, 6lb less than today. Enthaar returned to form with a win at Sandown but is up 4lb and has the worst draw; he looks destined for a place. FOXY FOREVER is a course and distance winner who returns here in good form with two recent seconds, at Wolverhampton and Newcastle. In a race where things will probably change quickly in the last 100 yards, Secretfact looks an each-way steal at 7/1 in a nine-horse field. G Lees
