Quick Return Can Produce Another Win For Bosley Five-Year-Old

Course Winner Has Conditions Just Right For Another Successful Run

Nearly all horses have optimum conditions and for Martin Bosley’s ZEFFERINO they appear to be a mile on a left-handed track while equipped with a tongue-tie.

He has had these requirements fulfilled on his last three outings, producing a third and two wins, and gets the same today at Chelmsford.

The son of Franklin started his career with Roger Charlton in the summer of 2016, and was clearly well thought of as his first two runs were in Class 3 and 4 events – he shaped well in both, with a fourth and second.

His form then dropped off, resulting in his being gelded and transferred to Marco Botti over a year later.

Four runs and no successes followed and he then went to Bosley who oversaw a wind operation after the horse was last of 13 at Kempton.

After then competing unsuccessfully over six and seven furlongs this summer, he reappeared at Bath in August after a break, and over the mile got the first of the wins described above.

He is up 5lb today but looks a real improver and the horse he beat last week, Parknacilla, was on a hat-trick and is a reliable filly who runs to form.

The progeny of his sire are 37% at the course and trainer and jockey George Wood are 100% better than expected there.

All looks good.

MY AMIGO finished third to Zefferino in last week’s race and gets a 5lb pull for about three lengths and Marjorie Fife’s consistent gelding will be closer, but at 9/2 Bosley’s charge looks the one and can be an each-way bet to nothing at a quarter the odds in the 16 runner field.
