Lady Luck To Shine On Jarvis Filly
Conditions Point To A Win For Lightly Raced Three-Year-Old
Seven contestants run in the AR Legal Fillies’ Handicap at Headquarters this afternoon and a case could be made for all, but the most convincing is for LADY BOWTHORPE, who has scope for further progress after just four runs. The latest was an excellent one in handicap company for the first time, after she had taken a novices’ event at Lingfield in mid-August. The filly went off a mark of 78 over a mile at Sandown a month later, going down by just a neck to Magical Rhythms, the convincing winner of her previous race and placed in two before that. Clara Peeters was in third and she has gone on to be pipped in a photo finish and previous winner Alandalos was fourth, so the form stands up well. The daughter of Nathaniel goes off a 3lb higher mark this afternoon and her obvious improvement should negate that – and more. Kieran Shoemark is on board again and he rides the course extremely well, with a 17% win return. This success is confirmed with a four from 23 win stat here when riding for trainer Willie Jarvis. MUBTASIMAH presents a substantial challenge. She took a similar race to this over course and distance back in August, completing a hat-trick, and would be a hot favourite if she hadn’t disappointed at Ascot when six of six last-time-out. BLACK LOTUS will be a big danger if handling this soft ground after her Windsor win but is up 6lb and two classes, and Sufficient is being backed with distance and ground ideal, but the easily-found 9/2 about Lady Bowthorpe looks enticing.
