Sprinter Ready For Second Win With Conditions Ideal

Linda Perratt sends nine horses over the relatively short distance to Ayr today and has an outside chance of taking the first four races.

She is double handed in the Weddings At Western House Hotel Handicap over five furlongs with JORDAN’S CHRIS and POPPING CORKS, both of whom ran in a handicap at Hamilton last Thursday.

On all known form Popping Corks has the best credentials and has an excellent chance of taking the race.

Systems analyst Nick Mordin once produced figures to suggest that horses fitted with headgear performed best on their second experience of them rather than the first, and that is the case with the son of Camacho today.

He won his only race on the all-weather at Newcastle last Autumn but had performed well on good to firm here in early July.

He was then fitted with cheekpieces last week and after being held up ran on well to be beaten just under two lengths by Super Julius.

He goes off a mark of 52 here, which is 1lb less than last week and although that race was bog standard sprint stuff, today’s is very similar.

Ben Robinson is on board and he is an impressive six from 36 when riding for the trainer here at Ayr and takes off another 3lbs.

The ground is good and won’t be a problem.

HARD SOLUTION looks the next best on form and ratings and is up just 1lb for a win in his penultimate race and COMPTON’S FINALE comes across the Irish Sea and his trainer, Adrian Keatley is 17% here; his form, though, including a penultimate last of 30 doesn’t scream winner.

Lightly raced KAAFY, who has changed stables since his last run is being backed but his form doesn’t warrant 7/1 and at an easily found 15/2 about Popping Corks is worth taking.
