Four-Year-Old Fitz The Bill
Recent Winner Set To Strike Again With Conditions To Suit
It was just last Thursday that FITZROVIA had his fifth race after three poor attempts and a gelding operation had seen him off the course from September, 2017, until earlier this month. He had reappeared at Wolverhampton on June 3rd but came in last, beaten out of sight and his 25/1 price before the off at Yarmouth last week didn’t suggest much optimism but he defied that view and won easily on the soft ground. With no further improvement he looks good for this evening’s race but could move on again as his win came despite the hindrance of a bump and resultant slipped saddle two furlongs out. In context, it was a remarkable performance and some of the improvement must be down to the give in the ground so today’s heavy at Nottingham augurs well.He is up just two pounds, Pat Cosgrove is on board again and the extra furlong should suit as his sire, Poet’s Quest won over a mile and his dam is by Rainbow Quest. CLUB TROPICANA is next best on ratings but the biggest danger might be another quick returner in SNOOKER JIM who ran a cracking second to Zodiakis on heavy ground at Haydock last week. William Hills’ and the exchanges’ 13/8 look reasonable. G Lees
