Conditions Suit Young Chaser At Perth
Seven-Year-Old Set To Resume Progressive Ways
Gloucestershire trainer Richard Hobson sends five horses on the long trip to Perth for the course’s Spring festival and PETIVILLE has a more than decent chance of getting gold in the Congratulations Catch Bissett Birdsong Chase at 4.35. A glance at his last race would hardly inspire confidence where he was beaten over 40 lengths by Goodnight Charlie over three miles five on the soft at Warwick. Before that, his form is that of a slowly progressing chaser- a second to Lough Dern Farmer had followed a four length third at Kelso and an imminent win looked likely. His victory over hurdles was on good ground over three miles so today’s conditions look ideal.Hobson has a two from five (144% better than expected) record at Perth whilst jockey Danny Cook is two from three, so the intent is there. BAFANA BLUE is top rated but gets negatives for trainer and sire at the course, whilst ONE FORTY SEVEN did so well to win last time out at Uttoxeter after nearly being carried out by a loose horse but is up six pounds, a mark he has struggled with before. Petiville’s 4/1 should be taken. G Lees
