Thundering Blue set for Sandown run
Thundering Blue looks set to run in the Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown on April 26, according to trainer David Menuisier.
The popular grey was last seen on British soil finishing third in the Juddmonte International at York, a performance that made many sit up and take note as he set off in that race as a 50/1 outsider. A return to Britain is now on the cards for the American gelding, with Menuisier pinpointing the meeting at Sandown at the end of the month, although he admits those plans could change over the coming days. ‘The plan is to run in the Gordon Richards at Sandown on April 26, but after Danceteria won in France, I’m less adamant as they are very similar horses,’ Menuisier said. ‘Obviously Thundering Blue is much higher rated at the moment, but that is the plan at the moment.‘ The French trainer has also indicated that some races in North America could be on the cards for the Clive Washbourn-owned horse. ‘I’m tempted to have a go at some of the races in North America at some point,’ Menuisier added. ‘From the summer onwards we could look at America, we will see how he gets on in the spring.’
