Put On A Top Jumper At Cheltenham
Nicholls’ Chaser Ready To Fly Home In Ryanair
It was apparent from early in his career with Paul Nicholls that FRODON was regarded as a chaser of some potential. Acquired from Guillaume Macaire after five races, he competed four times over hurdles before going chasing in the Autumn of 2016. Sent the short distance from Nicholls’ Ditcheat stables, he trotted up at Newton Abbot over an extended two miles and jumped well throughout, a feature that would become a trademark of his races. He then won another five chases that winter, including one over two miles five here at Cheltenham where he again …jumped well. His form then collapsed, and he was beaten by a total of 18 horses in three races. A wind operation in the summer of 2016 followed and did the trick and after a win at Aintree he has been runner-up and then victor in two outings at Cheltenham where his jumping has been from good to spectacular under Bryony Frost. He is a close second on BTO ratings to UN DE SCEAUX and gets two nice positives, including Frost’s seven from 17 over course and distance. The ground and hill won’t be a problem as he has won on heavy, and at two and a half and an extended three miles. FOOTPAD has yet to show he gets this distance at this course and ROAD TO RESPECT is best of the Gigginstown contingent on ratings. Frodon is an easily found 7/1 shot. G Lees
