Improving Four-Year-Old Ready To Strike Again
Wiltshire trainer Jimmy Fox has an improving sort who can progress through handicaps.
After being gelded before ran and then producing four unconvincing attempts over six months, PURPLE PADDY reappeared at Lingfield in January after a break of 70 days to produce a much better performance. He was unplaced but beaten under half a dozen lengths to Mr Mac after a slow start and interrupted run. The improvement was confirmed at Kempton the following month when he sluiced home from previous winner Misu Pete. That was off a mark of 46 and the son of Swiss Spirit carries 5lb more today, a burden that he certainly looked able to overcome when winning that last race.He is top on BTOPlus+ ratings and gets two positives, including a two from five for his trainer/jockey combination (Fox/Fahy). Another recent scorer, JAI HANUMAN, is a very significant opponent, whilst MADAME JO JO looks ready to win, but SkyBet’s 11/4 about Purple Paddy looks fair. G Lees
