Monalee to line up at Gowran Park
Trainer Henry De Bromhead will take Monalee to Gowran Park this weekend as he seeks momentum ahead of the Cheltenham Festival.
He is yet to taste victory in two outings since returning to action in November, having finished third at Down Royal and second at Leopardstown, but connections are hoping for an improvement this weekend. The eight-year-old, who has filled the runner-up spot on his last two appearances at the Festival, is being lined up for another charge at the Prestbury Park showpiece. Monalee looked on course for a showdown with Presenting Percy at Gowran Park, however, his rival has withdrawn and that should provide him with the perfect opportunity to grasp the win. De Bromhead said: ‘We need to get a run into Monalee and the Red Mills Chase looks like a good opportunity to do that.‘I’m not sure what the race will tell us in regards to future plans, but I hope the trip on Saturday should be ideal for him.’
