Balding happy to head straight to Guineas with Kameko
Colts’ Classic first target ‘whenever that may be’.
Andrew Balding will head straight to the Qipco 2000 Guineas with Kameko when a new date is announced for the colts’ Classic. Both the Guineas Festival and Investec Derby meeting are set for alternative slots in the calendar this year due to the coronavirus outbreak, with the situation to be become clearer when racing eventually resumes in Britain. Like his counterparts in the training ranks, the Kingsclere handler can only keep things ticking over for now.
“However, we’ve got to wait for a resumption to racing before we can get them going properly, as we don’t want them to boil over before the season begins. “We haven’t pressed the button with any of our two-year-olds at this stage and will bring them in to work later than usual, so we don’t really know where we are with them at the moment.”
