White Moon set for confidence-boosting run
White Moon is set for a confidence-boosting run next time out following his fall at Cheltenham earlier this month.
Colin Tizzard’s highly-rated six-year-old looked well placed to challenge the big hitters in the Steel Plate And Sections Novices’ Chase on November 16, until he fell at the last. However, owner Garth Broom has been quick to absorb White Moon of any blame for the fall and he feels the grey gelding remains a top prospect. ‘He had a haematoma on his chest, but he also had a slight cut there so it drained away and he’s absolutely fine now,’ Broom said. ‘He was a bit stiff that evening in his stable, but they said he recovered very quickly so I’m hoping it didn’t dent his confidence as he didn’t deserve to fall.‘ Broom did confirm that he might seek out a lower key race for White Moon’s next run, as he wants to build up his confidence once again before he makes the step back up. ‘We feel after that he can compete at a high level, but at the same time we’ll probably look for a confidence-booster for him somewhere,’ Broom added. ‘All being well, we can then step him up to graded company as I’m sure he’s capable of that. It’s a long time since I’ve been as gutted after a race as I was that day, but the main thing is that you have another day with them.’
