Balding confirms Beat The Bank fatality woe

Andrew Balding is hoping Beat The Bank can get back to his best ahead of the Longines Hong Kong Mile at Sha Tin.

The five-year-old endured a disappointing outing in the Queen Elizabeth II Stakes at Ascot finish down in 11th place in field of 13 runners.

That performance came on the back of a fine win in the Celebration Mile at Goodwood and Balding is hoping for Beat The Bank to get back to heights of that display when he goes for the Hong Kong Mile on December 9.

‘This race has been the plan for a while and he seems in good form.

Jim Crowley felt like the ground didn’t suit him at Ascot, but he is in fine fettle now,’ Balding said.

‘He is a little bit more mature than he was, so I hope he will be OK with the travelling, but you never know until you take them there.’
