Hunters Call in ‘fantastic shape’ – Murphy
Olly Murphy claims Hunters Call ‘looks fantastic’ as he prepares to return in the Grade Three Ascot Handicap Hurdle on December 22.
The eight-year-old has been absent since winning the same race almost 12 months ago on his stable debut, mainly down to an injury setback when being prepared for the County Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival in March. Murphy has been patient with Hunters Call and feels that could pay off next month as he is delighted with the shape of the horse. He said: ‘I’ve never had Hunters Call so well, and I will be going straight to Ascot with him for the race he won last year. I’m not saying he will go back and win, but he looks fantastic.‘There has been no recurrence of the injury, and he will be going to Ascot 110 per cent ready. ‘I just completely ran out of time for the Greatwood. I would have ended up rushing him and I just thought in hindsight it would be better to wait for the race at Ascot.’
