Lightly Raced Hurdler Set For Second Win

One of the most prodigious sires of winning jumpers is 2001 St Leger winner Milan, and he has a son racing today who can add to the tally.

AMZAC MAGIC goes in the three mile hurdle at Sedgefield and the distance looks like it will bring out the best in him.

He has had just seven runs over hurdles after a win and a second in the point-to-point field and got a victory at Wincanton over two and a half miles on his penultimate run.

On his races either side of that he strongly suggested that a step-up in trip would be to his advantage, staying on at one pace in both to finish third, beaten by an average of five lengths.

He goes off the same mark of 101 today as he ran off last time, and the extra three and a half furlongs, and the fact that he had been off the course for eight months prior to his last race must be in his favour.

His sire breeds stayers and his dam is by another stamina influence in Glacial Storm who won over two miles on the flat at Longchamp.

Jack Barber, who trains him and 13 others in Somerset is one from three at the course.

The favourite is NIFTY AT FIFTY and he looked like getting his first win at Exeter last time when seeming to be going clear when attempting to run out at the second last and unseating.

He was determined to get out of the race as he went left against the whip and then did run out when jockey-less at the last.

With no wins in 11 runs the punter is betting on him behaving and the left-handed track might help; he was beaten in a photo here three runs ago.

PASSAM is being backed but is at the bottom of BTO’s ratings and at 4/1 in a nine horse race Amzac Magic is edging out to each-way value.
