No Frodon plans yet – Nicholls

No problems for Nicholls

Discussions over where to send Frodon next are still being deliberated, trainer Paul Nicholls has confirmed.

Fordon started off the year with a commanding victory in the Crest Nicholson Handicap Chase at Cheltenham before finishing third in the Betfair Ascot Chase, losing out to Ruth Jefferson’s Waiting Patiently.

The six-year-old struggled in the next two outings at Prestbury Park, with a disappointing fifth in the Ryanair Chase followed by a 13th-place finish in the Barchester Healthcare Silver Trophy Chase.

However, the gelding bounced back to form with a win at Aintree in the Monet’s Garden Old Roan Limited Handicap Chase and that has opened up several avenues for the next meeting.

Ditcheat trainer Nicholls has revealed there are no plans set in stone just yet whilst he also failed to confirm which jockey would be booked in for the next ride.

‘I’ve not made a plan yet for Frodon.

He is entered in the BetVictor, although we will just see what is what,’ he said.

‘Harry (Cobden), Sam (Twiston-Davies) and Bryony (Frost) have all won on him – but Bryony got a great tune out of him at Aintree.’
