Burke talks up Never in Paris’ Newbury chances
Trainer Karl Burke is quietly confident Never In Paris can make a big impact in Saturday’s Weatherbys Super Sprint Stakes at Newbury.
Following an impressive debut win at Nottingham earlier this month, the two-year-old is fancied to fight for the top prize on Saturday, although ante-post favourite Ventura Rebel appears to be the one to beat. Burke says his charge is in good shape, has a good draw from stall 14 and will benefit from the expected rain in the lead-up to the race as he hopes she makes it two wins from two. He said: ‘I think she’s a smart filly in the making. She’s got a nice draw (stall 14), and any rain would help.‘It’s a tough race – and the favourite will be hard to beat, I would imagine – but there’s a lot of prize-money on offer, and we’ll give it a go. ‘ Other contenders for the Super Sprint include Emten, Mighty Spirit, Separate, Electric Ladyland and Taxiwala.
