Calyx expected to return this season
Connections remain hopeful that Calyx will be able to make a return to action this season following injury.
The John Gosden-trained three-year-old landed the Pavilion Stakes at Ascot in May but then sustained a pastern injury at Haydock later that month, ruling Calyx out of Royal Ascot. Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to owner Khalid Abdullah, refused to put an exact timescale on Calyx’s potential return but confirmed they are hopeful he will return to action this season. ‘There are no real new updates on Calyx but he is fine and is with John Gosden,’ he said, as reported by Sky Sports. ‘He won’t be out until the autumn at the earliest. We very much hope to have him back on track before the end of the season, though.’
