Five-Year-Old Has Ideal Conditions To Add To Win Tally

The Tim Easterby mare APPOINTED performed like an animal with a win imminent at York last Friday when running on well to get to within five lengths of Auxiliary in a 19 runner Class 4 handicap.

She drops down a grade today for an event at Ripon which doesn’t look nearly as strong and has an outstanding chance of getting gold.

The last time she contested a Class 5 was at Carlisle in September, 2016, when she won easily and she will relish conditions tonight.

It is true that the daughter of Delegator likes York but she has run here at Ripon five times, winning on her debut and being edged out by half a length in another; the mile and a half distance is ideal, though the York run suggests she’ll get further, she relishes soft ground (two of her three wins have come on good to soft) and David Allan replaces an apprentice.

She is top rated from obvious danger FRANCOPHILIA , who is a consistent type and won on the Lingfield turf before being beaten under a length by Ingleby Hollow at Thirsk.

She is up six pounds for that win, however, and there is no evidence as yet that she goes on soft, though she is by Frankel, whose progeny are winning at 24% on turf with give in it.

Around half the layers have Appointed at 9/4 and that should be taken as she is being backed.
