Seasoned Sprinter Set For Another Win

It must be enjoyable to own a consistent and healthy sprinter as they can run often and usually have a win or two in them.

The Jim Biggane owned CAPPANANTY CON, a runner in the Injured Jockeys’ Fund Handicap this evening is such a beast, who has raced 37 times in total, 23 of them on the all-weather where all five of his wins have come.

Significantly, he has competed eight times since being transferred to Charlie Wallis’ Essex stable in January, excelling with two wins and three place efforts.

Another gold medal is more than possible today.

The five-year-old won off a mark of 72 in early May and nearly followed up last weekend at Chelmsford when going down by a length to You’re Cool off 76; he races off that rating today, with usual pilot Josh Bryan taking off three so his chance is plain to see.

This is enhanced by reference to the progeny of his sire Zebedee who are 34 from 225 at the track, a very acceptable return.

His main rival might be MAGIC ROUNDABOUT by the same sire, who is top rated on BTO though one who has been absent for ten months, and HARROGATE, who won his penultimate race here before being slowly away and losing all chance in Epsom’s big sprint handicap on Saturday.

Cappananty is a solid 4/1 across the board.
