Shamshon ruled out of Epsom meeting
Trainer Stuart Williams has confirmed Shamshon will not race in the Investec Dash Handicap at Epsom on Saturday.
Shamshon was part of Saturday’s controversial veterans’ handicap at Goodwood, which had to be restarted after a false start and brought about criticism from veteran trainer Milton Bradley. The latter, whose Englishman was among three runners found to be suffering from post-race ataxia, was unhappy with the decision to start the race again after revealing three of the six runners ended up ‘drunk on their legs’. Newmarket handler Williams was in agreement with his fellow trainer and he has confirmed plans to send Shamshon to Epsom this weekend have been shelved due to the Goodwood saga. ‘My horse seems fine this morning,’ he told the Racing Post.‘We had a plan to run him in the Dash at Epsom on Saturday, but after yesterday that’s out of the window as I’ve had to give him some Bute [anti-inflammatory medication], so he can’t run anywhere. ‘We’ve wasted an entry, which wasn’t cheap.’
