Enable set to keep racing
Enable could continue racing in 2019 with trainer John Gosden hinting at a bid for a record third Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe success.
The four-year-old became just the third filly to win the most prestigious race in Europe race on two occasions after edging out Sea of Class by a neck on Sunday. It was thought the victory would see Enable finish on a high note given she has suffered with injury issues throughout this campaign.
However, Gosden is open to the idea of her racing as a five-year-old next year to try and claim a third win in the race, but the final decision is likely to rest with owner and breeder Prince Khalid Abdullah.
‘If she’s in great order, her owner/breeder Khalid Abdullah will make the decision, but it would be wonderful if he felt she would like to go for it,’ he said.
‘If she’s fit and well, she’d only be five years old – that’s like reaching a zenith in a way for a Flat horse – so it would be great. Put it this way, the filly will tell us – and he (Prince Khalid Abdullah) will make the decision.’
