Candy is weather watching for Limato
Henry Candy claims Limato’s planned return to action in next week’s Duke of York Clipper Logistics Stakes will be weather dependent.
The seven-year-old’s last season ended with a disappointing defeat on Champions Day which came on the back of three consecutive wins last summer. Limato’s only blip came on soft ground at Ascot and Candy will be assessing the amount of rainfall in the build up to Wednesday’s race before he decides whether or not to pitch him in. ‘I’m delighted with the way he looks and he’s certainly retained all of his old enthusiasm – he’s in great form,’ said Candy. ‘As ever with Limato, him running is entirely ground dependent. He scrambled home on good to soft ground in the Garrowby at York last year and he didn’t like it much. ‘I think in a race of that class he ought to have good ground or firmer.’
