Dettori Mount Can Fix It
Improving Colt To Take Vase Under Ideal Conditions
The adage “Horses For Courses” doesn’t always work out but the ability to act around Chester’s bends and then unwind for the short straight is crucial and TECHNICIAN very likely has that propensity today in the Chester Vase. He is a grey son of Irish Guineas winner, and grey, Mastercraftsman, who has an impressive 16 from 62 record at the course, averaging out at over one win in four attempts. The horse himself has the form to win this. He had a less than trouble-free passage when second to Bangkok in Sandown’s Classic Trial and would almost certainly have won if he hadn’t been locked in on the rails. The winner had won his previous race and the third, Persian Moon was beaten, but only by three lengths in a Class 1 at Newmarket last week, again after an unlucky run. NORWAY, trained by Aidan O’Brien, will also go at the course, with his sire, Galileo producing progeny that has won 26% of its races at the Roodee and KING OTTOKAR was successful in a conditions event at Newbury but steps up significantly in class this afternoon. Dettori takes the mount on Technician and will probably keep the booking for the Derby if the colt wins today. He can be easily found at 10/3 for today’s event. 3:35 Chester 8 May 2019 MBNA Chester Vase Stakes (Group 3) (Colts & Geldings) G LeesFollow us on Twitter racing365dotcom and like our Facebook page.
