King confident Dunkerron can respond
Trainer Alan King believes Dunkerron can deliver the goods when he runs in the Tattersalls Stakes at Newmarket on Thursday.
The two-year-old looked to be one to watch at the start of the summer after back-to-back wins at Windsor and York in June.He then finished fourth when stepped up to Group Two level in July but he has since disappointed for connections.
Dunkerron finished second at Goodwood at the end of July before finishing last of six at Sandown on September 1.
Despite the setbacks, King insists his charge can bounce back this week.
He told reporters: ‘I would like to think that if Dunkerron comes back to his best, he will go very close.
‘He was very disappointing in the Solario Stakes and was quite sick with a bad scope the following week. He gave no indication that anything was ailing him before that run, but a lot of my two-year-olds were not quite right for a brief period.’
