O’Brien plots Irish Guineas bid for duo
Magna Grecia and Hermosa are being lined up for the Irish Guineas later this month after their weekend successes at Newmarket.
Aidan O’Brien enjoyed a 10th career win in the 2000 Guineas over the Rowley Mile with Magna Grecia on Saturday, before Hermosa came out on top in the 1000 Guineas the following afternoon.
The Ballydoyle handler had planned to take Hermosa to Epsom for the Investec Oaks, but he has seemingly changed his mind with the Irish 1000 Guineas now the target.
Speaking back at the Curragh, O’Brien said: ‘I was delighted with Magna Grecia and the plan is to come back here (for the Irish 2,000 Guineas). ‘I initially thought about the Oaks for Hermosa, but it’s possible that she could come back here too for the Irish 1,000 Guineas.’
