Judicial aiming for Newmarket

Judicial is in very good shape to try and win the Palace House Stakes at Newmarket next month, according to assistant trainer Steve Brown.

The Julie Camacho-trained seven-year-old was just pipped at the post in the same race last year by Mabs Cross, who subsequently went on to win the Prix de l’Abbaye.

Judicial did get a win on his favoured fast ground in the Coral Charge at Sandown in July, before more unsuitable soft conditions got the better of him in his final start of 2018 at the Dubai International Airport World Trophy Stakes as he could only finish fifth.

Now though, Camacho’s assistant and husband Brown says he is in good shape and a continuation of dry weather will suit him perfectly.

‘He’s coming along nicely,’ said Brown.

‘We’ve been pleased with his work in the spring, and he’s heading towards the Palace House – which is an obvious target for him.

‘We’re exactly where we want to be with him.

‘There’s quite a few waiting to run – but it’s dry at the minute, and these are his perfect conditions.

‘Hopefully he’ll head to Newmarket in two weeks’ time in top form.’
