Haggas launches three-pronged assault on Cambridgeshire
Trainer seeking first victory in Newmarket handicap feature.
William Haggas is triple-handed in his bid to win the bet365 Cambridgeshire for the first time at Newmarket on Saturday. Seven days on from combining to land the Ayr Gold Cup with Nahaarr, Haggas and in-form jockey Tom Marquand team up with Sinjaari, who won the John Smith’s Cup at York on his only previous start this season in mid-July. Haggas also saddles Ilaraab, who will be ridden by Cieren Fallon as he goes in search of a fifth consecutive victory, as well as Montatham, who reverts to handicap company under Jim Crowley after finishing second in a Listed contest at Sandown recently. Haggas said: “It might be asking a bit much of Sinjaari to win a John Smith’s Cup and a Cambridgeshire, but he’s very well and I’m very happy with him.👏🏻 Smart turn of foot
Big-race success for @DonohoeStevie as Sinjaari provides trainer @WilliamHaggas with a third success in the GBP 60,000 John Smith’s Cup at @yorkracecourseResults ➡ https://t.co/sBcsavHpYf pic.twitter.com/SyaeMmF2n6 — Racing TV (@RacingTV) July 18, 2020
