Mums Tipple set for Ascot trip
Trainer Richard Hannon has suggested Mums Tipple will be heading to Royal Ascot in June for a shot at the Commonwealth Cup.
With Horse Racing suspended until the end of April at the earliest due to the coronavirus pandemic, trainers and owners are currently deliberating plans for when the equine industry is back up and running. British handler Hannon is one of those and he has been considering plans for Mums Tipple, who looks set to head to Royal Ascot, which is due to take place from June 16-20. The three-year-old managed to pip Molatham, Man Of Promise and Mr Kiki by a neck when scoring over 6f at Ascot last summer, before racking up another win when thrusting himself into Group-race calculations at York. A disappointing seventh-place finish followed at Newmarket in the Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes in September and Mums Tipple has not been able to have another run since due to the Covid-19 outbreak. Hannon has to revisit the plans for his charge and the Briton admits a trip to Ascot could be on the cards. ‘I was looking at probably going to Newbury with him over seven in the Greenham – but that isn’t going to happen now,’ he was quoted as saying by Sky Sports. ‘I hope we can take him away for a day out to Kempton or somewhere. ‘I’d like to think he would get a mile – but I’m not sure, because he looks pretty quick over six, and there is that race at Royal Ascot which has got his name written all over it.’Follow us on Twitter racing365dotcom and like our Facebook page.
