Exeter’s rearranged card off again
Meeting had been saved from last Sunday.
Sunday’s meeting at Exeter has been called off due to a waterlogged track. Officials had been due to inspect the course at 6pm on Saturday, but they were able to make an earlier call as Storm Dennis took its toll. A total of 36 millimetres had fallen at the Devon venue in 12 hours, with clerk of the course Daniel Cooper also reporting damage to obstacles at the track. He said: “We have damage to the wings of multiple chase fences and hurdles. The wind has become a problem today and they have shattered the tops of the wings – they are beyond repair. “Take the wind out of the equation and we still have the problem of waterlogging in multiple areas. “We have had 36mm of rain in 12 hours here and there is more forecast.“We are racing again on Friday, so hopefully the track will recover in time.” The Exeter card, which was due to feature two Listed events, was initially due to be staged last Sunday but was rescheduled due to the impact of Storm Ciara. Kempton and Market Rasen are also due to race on Sunday, but both tracks will have to pass precautionary checks at 9am and 7am respectively. Dual Grand National winner Tiger Roll is due to make his reappearance in the Ladbrokes Ireland Boyne Hurdle at Navan. There are no problems reported at the track, with the ground described as heavy following 14mm of rain on Saturday.
