Frost delighted to be nominated for BT Sport prize
Dina Asher-Smith amongst rivals for Action Woman Of The Year Award.
Bryony Frost described herself as “honoured” to be shortlisted for the BT Sport Action Woman Of The Year Award. The 24-year-old has enjoyed a sensational 2019 after being crowned champion conditional jockey along with becoming the first woman to ride a Grade One winner over fences at the Cheltenham Festival aboard Frodon in the Ryanair Chase. Frost, who is the daughter of Grand National-winning rider Jimmy, faces competition for the coveted prize from world 200m champion Dina Asher-Smith, heptathlon world champion Katarina Johnson-Thompson and Burghley Horse Trials winner Pippa Funnell. She said: “It is great to be recognised outside of our sport. To be among the athletes and the girls there is really cool. “To be seen as one of the stand-out females of the year in sport as a whole is quite a big thing. “You are kind of in a bubble day to day riding your horses. I’ve never seen it as my career, as I’ve seen it as about my horses’ careers and improving theirs and trying to work for my team.“For me to be nominated as an individual, I’m quite honoured. Hopefully the racing family will get behind me so I don’t look like Billy No-Mates on the voting system.” Voting closes on December 2, with the ceremony taking place on December 9.
