Snowden sets Pacify Listed test at Kempton
Unbeaten novice hurdler to bid for five-timer
Pacify is to get his chance at Listed level over jumps at Kempton, after winning his first four hurdle races. The seven-year-old, jointly owned by the Duchess of Cornwall and bred by her and the Prince of Wales, has taken extremely well to hurdling – with victories at Southwell, Uttoxeter, Newton Abbot and Stratford during the summer months. Trainer Jamie Snowden feels Pacify has therefore earned the right to step up in grade for this weekend’s Matchbook Time To Move Over Novices’ Hurdle. “He’s all set to go on Sunday. He’s enjoyed his jumping – from square one he’s enjoyed it, “ said the Lambourn trainer.“He was a very good Flat horse. Since day one we’ve had him, he’s loved the jumping, and it’s been a bit of a revelation for him – he’s gone and won four races very nicely, so he deserves to go and step up in class. “He’s top-rated in there with Longhouse Sale, and there’s bound to be some other decent horses in among them. “You wouldn’t expect a Listed race not to have them. But he’s certainly done everything we’ve asked of him, and let’s hope there’s plenty more improvement left to come as well. ” Snowden has Cheltenham’s Showcase meeting later this month in mind for another improving hurdler Chapmanshype, who has won his last thee races. “He’s progressed through the season so far with every run – and he looks like there’s more to come from him,” he said. “We might think about Cheltenham in a couple of weeks’ time, depending on what the weather does. He does like good ground. “There’s a novice there and a handicap as well. We might put him in both and see what the weather does, and see which looks the most suitable.”
