Quinn eyes top prizes with Liberty Beach
Battaash rematch may be in store at York or Goodwood.
John Quinn is to look at all the big sprints for Liberty Beach following another fine effort from the three-year-old filly at Sandown. The daughter of Cable Bay just found A’Ali one length too good in the Group Three Coral Charge over five furlongs last weekend. That run came on the back of the Group One King’s Stand Stakes at Royal Ascot, in which she finished third to Battaash. Liberty Beach is likely to face Charlie Hills’ brilliant sprinter again should she go for one or both of the Qatar King George Stakes at Goodwood or the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York this summer. “Goodwood is definitely on the agenda, and there’s York for the Nunthorpe. We’ll put her in everything that she should be in,” said Quinn. The North Yorkshire-based trainer reports Liberty Beach to have taken her latest race in her stride.“She’s come out of the race absolutely fine,” he said. “On the day he (A’Ali) was the better horse, but she ran really well.” Safe Voyage gave Quinn his 1000th career success in the Listed Surrey Stakes at Epsom on Saturday, and is on course for the Minstrel Stakes at the Curragh on July 18. Quinn said: “He’s good – we’re pleased with him. “There’s a race for him in Ireland, the Minstrel Stakes. That’s the race we’re thinking of, all being well.”
