Henry II mission on Red Verdon’s radar
Sandown feature is an option for Dunlop inmate.
Ed Dunlop is eyeing an outing in the Coral Henry II Stakes at Sandown at the weekend for Red Verdon. Now a seven-year-old, the Lemon Drop Kid gelding appeared to retain all his old ability when outclassing his rivals on his return to action at Doncaster in Listed company. “We had him in the Northumberland Plate and we had him in the Fred Archer, but we ducked both of them,” said Dunlop. “We’re going to enter him next weekend for the Henry II at Sandown and that is where we intend to run him. “That is unless we decide to wait for the York race he won last year (Silver Cup). “He was impressive at Doncaster, but truth be told, in that grade he should be – he’s been second in a Group One.“Australia hasn’t worked for him twice, but he was a decent horse last year and it’s good that he’s come back again and we can have some fun.”
