Marquand scores again Down Under

Jockey Tom Marquand was delighted with Holyfield's late turn of foot to land the Group Three Schweppervescence at Rosehill on Saturday.

The in-form 21-year-old won his first career Group One when taking the Ranvet Stakes on board Addeybb seven day ago and was in the winner’s circle twice at the same track this weekend.

Holyfield, trained by Ciaron Maher and David Eustace, was always handy and found a bit extra when it mattered most to claim the spoils.

The two-year-old beat Untamed by three-quarters of a length, with Time is Precious back in third, and Marquand was impressed.

‘He’s obviously a horse with plenty of ability.

He got a bit worked up in the preliminaries, but he’s put in some decent performances in his last few runs and I was always confident I had a good draw to make it work how I wanted it to,’ he told Sky Racing.

‘To be fair, everything fell perfectly and as soon as the other horse joined him at the last 200 or 250 metres, he battled on all the way to the line.

‘ The young rider also claimed the spoils on board Vegadaze in the E-Group Security Star Kingdom Stakes.
