Easysland denies Tiger Roll a treble
Easyland won the Glenfarclas Chase at the Cheltenham Festival on Wednesday to deny Tiger Roll a hat-trick of victories in the race.
JP McManus had recently taken ownership of the six-year-old French runner and his faith in Easysland was rewarded when Jonathan Plouganou guided him home well clear of the chasing pack, including Tiger Roll, who had to settle for second spot some 17 lengths behind. It was the third win of the day for McManus and fourth at the Festival on the back of triumphs for Epatante, Champ and Dame De Compagnie. Speaking afterwards, Plouganou said: ‘Today Easysland is the best in the cross country. My horse likes to jump. ‘ Tiger Roll’s trainer Gordon Elliott added: ‘I’m delighted, but disappointed he didn’t win.‘I said before the race the (heavy) ground was a big worry. It was perfect prep for the National – brilliant. ‘ McManus later enjoyed a fourth win in Wednesday’s action when the Elliott-trained Aramax triumphed in the Boodles Juvenile Handicap Hurdle.
