Pipe talks up Ramses De Teillee’s credentials
Trainer David Pipe feels Ramses De Teillee is looking in good shape ahead of the Albert Bartlett Novices' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival.
Although Ramses De Teillee was beaten on his only start over fences this season, the talented chaser has thrived over hurdles, with wins at both Doncaster and Haydock. As his charge prepares for his Grade One debut at Cheltenham, Pipe is optimistic about Ramses De Teillee’s prospects at Prestbury Park. ‘We were always going to take advantage of his novice hurdle status at some point, but we could never have dreamt it would have worked out this well,’ Pipe said. ‘We tweaked his wind after he was beaten over fences, and he seemed to come back an even better horse, as they were good performances at Haydock and Doncaster. ‘He doesn’t mind the big occasion, he jumps and stays well and he is rated 151, which puts him in the top five novice hurdlers, so that tells you he must have a chance.’
