Pauling confident in Global Citizen
Trainer Ben Pauling thinks Global Citizen has a good chance of success when running at Cheltenham next month.
The eight-year-old ran impressively when competing in the Wayward Lad Novices’ Chase at Kempton over Christmas. It was an important win for Global Citizen, who had disappointed at Carlisle in October, only coming fourth out of five in the Beginners’ Chase. However, he is primed for a run in the Racing Post Arkle on March 10 in what could be a wide-open affair at the Cheltenham Festival. And, the Cotswolds trainer says he is confident his charge can perform well. ‘He’s in good form,’ Pauling said.‘He schooled very well on Thursday morning when David Bass popped him over three fences twice. ‘We’re very happy with him but we could do with better weather for him. We’ll just get what we’re given. ‘He’ll probably go to Kempton for a racecourse gallop on Tuesday, on the all-weather.’
