Elliott pleased with Tiger Roll’s Cheltenham outing

Gordon Elliott says Tiger Roll is in top shape ahead of the Cheltenham Festival after a gallop around the cross-country fences at Prestbury Park.

The 10-year-old is hoping for another huge year as he prepares for his twin assault on The Festival and the Grand National.

Winning the Aintree showpiece for the third year in a row remains a tantalising future prospect but first is Cheltenham, where Elliott’s charge is hoping for a third victory in the Glenfarclas Cross Country Chase.

Elliott revealed Tiger Roll was given a brief trip around the course on Friday under the guidance of Keith Donoghue as part of his preparation for next month and everything went well.

‘He’s come over for a trip away and he’s had a nice school around,’ Elliott said in the Racing Post.

‘We were very happy with him.

He just jumped a few hedges, which is what we’ve done with him for the last couple of years now.

Keith was very happy with him too.’
