Walker in no rush with English King
Colt was beaten into fifth as Derby favourite.
Ed Walker has yet to finalise plans for English King following his defeat in the Investec Derby at Epsom earlier in the month.
The Camelot colt shot to prominence for the premier Classic with a brilliant victory in the Lingfield Derby Trial in June, but ultimately failed to land a telling blow under Frankie Dettori – making late gains to finish a never-nearer fifth behind the front-running Serpentine. Almost two weeks on, Walker is pleased to report English King to be none the worse for the experience and is excited to see what the rest of the season holds for his Bjorn Nielsen-owned stable star. Walker said: “English King is really well. He’s recovered from Epsom and put the weight back on that he lost – we’re very happy with him. “There is no great plan at the moment, that’s for sure. We’re just mulling things over and we’ll see what we come up with. “The main thing is the horse is absolutely fine and hopefully there’s still a lot to look forward to.” Follow us on Twitter racing365dotcom and like our Facebook page.Follow us on Twitter racing365dotcom and like our Facebook page.
